Timberland Vs. Under Armour: YouTube Comparison

By: Jason Sappal

When it comes to YouTube, both brands seem to take on different strategies. Under Armour has had 2 posts this past week, and only seems to post a few times every month. Timberland posts much more frequently, uploading at least 4-5 videos a week. It is important to upload around one to two videos per week, in order to keep subscribers continuously engaged in the content.

Timberland’s most recent videos include a collection of ads that promotes a wide line of Limited Releases, and commercials that demonstrate the new SensorFlex technology, an innovation that allows for increased flexibility within the sole of the shoe. The brand’s most popular video is the ‘The City Is Yours – 15s” commercial, which has received 6, 011, 320 views since it was uploaded 5 months ago. I believe that the video is so successful because it is short (15 seconds) in duration, and demonstrates the durability of Timberland products, proving its benefits relating to the great outdoors.

Under Armour uploads a bunch of videos that enforce fitness, showing athletes endure intense exercises in water, on the sidewalk, and more. The brand also displays celebrity-sponsored commercials featuring athletes such as Stephen Curry, and Tom Brady. The company’s most viewed video is the ‘Rule Yourself’ commercial featuring Olympic Gold Medalist, Michael Phelps. The video received 11, 890, 200 views since it was released 11 months ago, and the reason why I believe it was so successful is because the ad is very motivational and inspiring for athletes, as the famous swimmer is witnessed pushing his body to the limits throughout his life in order to reach his goals.
