Clarks vs Converse on Twitter

Clarks vs Converse on Twitter

By: Karl Janiec

Hey again, today we’re looking at Clarks and Converse again, this time on Twitter. Why look at Twitter when we already analyzed Facebook? Although most of the content will be similar, Twitter better employs the usage of hashtags, and quick and catchy posts with their 140 character limit. To stand out, you have to be clever, simple and to the point.

Clarks:

Once again, Clarks follows that minimalistic and simple aesthetic that they’re known for, and apply it to their posting. They post regularly, but sometimes have gaps in their posting habits. Eg: from Feb 1- Feb 9 there were no posts made. Also, they posted very infrequently before the beginning of Feb 1st with posts about once a month! Most of the content is promotional, and consists of pictures and videos of their product, or people posing wearing the shoes. Their most popular recent post is in May 2016: a retweet of Drake who was wearing Clarks which received 86 RTs (retweets) and 56 likes. This post received traction because, well, it’s Drake. Hate him or love him, you can’t deny the guy has some class, and with Clarks shoes on, it just proves it more. Clarks has 46k followers, and follows 900 people. It doesn’t employ heavy hashtags, mainly some variation of #Clarks, #ClarksBoots #ClarksNature etc.

Converse:

Converse has a clean visual design on their FB page, and posts mainly promotional material of their shoes, and people and their crews wearing them. They have an endorsement with Mille Brown from Stranger Things, and have some posts of vintage Converse and movie characters wearing them. Their most recent popular post is of Millie wearing classic chuck taylors. This post received 365 RTs and 1.8k likes. The Hashtags #ForeverChuck and #Converse were used. Can’t grow old, if you’re always vintage! Good stuff Converse! This Twitter has 1.04M followers and follows 316 accounts.
